Mae West (August 17, 1893 – November 22, 1980) was an American actress, playwright, screenwriter, and sex symbol.
Known for her bawdy double entendres, West made a name for herself in Vaudeville and on the stage in New York before moving to Hollywood to become a comedienne, actress and writer in the motion picture industry. One of the more controversial movie stars of her day, West encountered many problems including censorship.
When her cinematic career ended, she continued to perform on stage, in Las Vegas, in the United Kingdom, on radio and television, and recorded rock and roll albums.

John Davison Rockefeller
was born July 8, 1839 on a farm in Richmond, New York. He was the second child of six born to William Avery and Eliza Davison Rockefeller. The family lived modestly, John’s father being a “pitch man” charging up to $25.00 for treatments for cancers. His father traveled and was gone for months at time and John’s upbringing fell mainly on his mother, who was very religious and disciplined. She taught her children to work, to save and to give to charities. After moving to Moravia and later to Owego, New York, the family moved to Ohio in 1853. They bought a house near Cleveland, in Strongsville, Ohio and John attended Central High School in Cleveland. John left high school in 1855 and took a six-month business course at Folsom Mercantile College. He completed the course in three months and began searching for a job as a bookkeeper or clerk in Cleveland. In 1855, business in Cleveland was adverse and John had trouble finding a job. After six weeks, Hewitt & Tuttle, a small company of produce shippers and commission merchants employed him as an assistant bookkeeper. Rockefeller worked hard and impressed his employers, arranging complicated transportation deals moving freight by railroad, canal and lake boats. He began to trade for his own account and his combination of caution; precision and resolve brought him to the attention of the Cleveland business community.

CARL PERKINS HANDWRITTEN AND SIGNED “BLUE SUEDE SHOES”
With his smash 1956 hit classic “Blue Suede Shoes,” Carl Perkins virtually defined and established rockabilly music in the rock and roll cannon and launched Sun Records into national prominence. Carl Perkins is regarded by many as one of the founding fathers of rock-and-roll. Although he placed only one record in the pop top forty “Blue Suede Shoes,” it became a legendary one in the annals of rock-and-roll and propelled Perkins, one of the original rockabilly singers, into his legendary status.
Born Carl Lee Perkins near Tiptonville, Tennessee in 1932, the son of the only white sharecropper (Fonie “Buck” Perkings)on a cotton plantation and Louise Brantley. The family lived first in a three room shack and then a one room storehouse. The family was so poor that kids in the neighborhood brought cast off clothes for the Perkins brothers. perkinperform.jpg (60540 bytes)perkinsyoung.jpg (43583 bytes)
Growing up in Tennessee with his brothers, Jay B. and Clayton, Carl learned to play the guitar and became quite proficient at it. He listened to country music, gospel, and blues, and began to write some of his own compositions. At 13 he performed a song that he had written, Movie Magg, at a local talent show and won. He formed a group with Jay and Clayton called the Perkins Brothers. Carl played electric guitar and did most of the singing with Jay playing acoustic rhythm guitar, and Clayton the upright bass.
Shortly after World War II the family moved to Bemis Tennessee, where the brothers worked in the cotton mills. Buck was unable to get a job in the mills because of a lung condition, and Perkins family went back to sharecropping.

VICTORIA “TERRIBLE SIREN” WOODHULL
AUTOGRAPHED LETTER SIGNED 12/04/1895
MEASURES 8 X 10 INCHES
EXCELLENT CONDITION AND EXTREMELY RARE!
THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS GIFT
PLACE OF BIRTH: Homer, Licking County, Ohio
FAMILY BACKGROUND: Victoria was born fifth among seven children to Reuben Buckman (”Buck”) Claflin and Roxanna (Hummel) Claflin. Buck was a gristmill operator, but had a get-rich-quick streak that led him to gambling, scheming and lawsuits. Roxanna was fiery tempered, quick-witted and inclined toward clairvoyance. She brought her children often to camp revivals in the woods by traveling preachers, especially Rev. Lyman Beecher (father of Victoria’s later adversary), and would get caught up in religious ecstasy, whirling and speaking in tongues.
EDUCATION: Victoria was mostly self-taught.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Victoria inherited much of her mother’s fiery personality, and was imitating preachers at a young age. She also showed signs of clairvoyance. At the age of 10, Victoria had visions in which Demosthenes (a prominent Greek statesman and orator of 4th century Athens) appeared as her patron saint. Her sister Tennessee (”Tennie”) also shared the gift of “second sight.” Their father saw his opportunity, changing his name to “Dr. R.B. Claflin, American King of Cancers,” and taking his daughters on the road as psychic healers, and holding seances, complete with rapping sounds and moving furniture. She spent most of her youth traveling with her family’s medicine show, telling fortunes, selling patent medicines, and performing a spiritualist act with her sister Tennessee.
